The baseball season may slow down when the weather turns cold, but inside the Wegmans Red Wings Performance Center, the game keeps going all year long.

Beginning this fall, the Red Wings are expanding the Performance Center’s offseason programming for 2026-27. The new lineup creates more opportunities for youth players, adults, teams, families, and senior athletes to train, compete, and continue developing throughout the offseason.

From hitting leagues and school break camps to home run derbies and team training sessions, athletes at nearly every stage of their baseball or softball journey will have a way to participate.

A Year-Round Home for Baseball and Softball

Located inside ESL Ballpark, the Wegmans Red Wings Performance Center is a 10,000-square-foot, year-round baseball and softball training facility operated by the Rochester Red Wings.

The facility features HitTrax game simulation, advanced player-development equipment, professional-grade training resources, and programming for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Through its partnership with Wegmans, the Performance Center reflects a shared commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, expanding access to youth sports, and creating opportunities for athletes and families throughout Western New York.

Start with a Free Community Hitting Day

To kick off the 2026-27 offseason schedule, the Red Wings will host two free Community Hitting Days:

• Sunday, October 4

• Saturday, February 13

Players of all ages will be able to reserve a complimentary 40-minute training session inside the Performance Center. Participants will have the opportunity to experience HitTrax games and training sessions, advanced player analytics, professional-grade training equipment, and more…all at no cost.

Registration information and additional details for both Community Hitting Days will be announced later this summer.

Bringing Professional-Level Development to Rochester

The Red Wings' mission with the Performance Center goes beyond providing a place to take swings during the winter. Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. is committed to making baseball development, data, and technology more accessible throughout the Rochester community.

“The Wegmans Red Wings Performance Center's most important mission is to democratize access to baseball development and the technology behind today's game,” said Morrie Silver II, Chief Innovation Officer for the Rochester Red Wings. “Too often, the best tools are only available to those who can afford them or happen to be in the right place. We want that to be different in Rochester. Whether someone dreams of becoming a player, a coach, or a front office executive, our responsibility is to make those opportunities more accessible and inspire the next generation to build something even greater for our Rochester community.”

That means opening access not only to aspiring baseball and softball players, but also to the next generation of coaches, analysts, sports scientists, and front office executives. By making technology that can otherwise be difficult or prohibitively expensive to access available locally, the Red Wings hope participants can learn, grow, and eventually bring new ideas and inspiration back to Rochester.

Athletes at the Performance Center will continue to train with professional-grade technology and equipment, including:

• Driveline Baseball development equipment

• Bat-speed and plyometric training tools

• High-performance pitching machines

• Personalized performance reports

• Live competitive leaderboards

When Registration Opens

Registration for the 2026-27 offseason programs will open in phases, giving returning participants and waitlist members an opportunity to register before programs become available to everyone.

• Monday, August 3: Early booking opens for returning 2025 customers

• Wednesday, August 5: Booking opens for waitlist members

• Friday, August 7: Booking opens to the public

Youth Baseball and Softball Programs

Following the inaugural Hitting League season, Youth Hitting Leagues are returning with expanded baseball and softball options.

The leagues combine weekly HitTrax competition with personalized player analytics and measurable skill development in a fun, team-based environment. Additional leagues, timeframes, and offerings have also been added to better accommodate the busy schedules of youth players ages 8U through 16U.

New Adult Baseball and Softball Hitting Leagues

Adults will also have more ways to stay game-ready during the offseason.

Open to recreational, competitive, and tournament players ages 18 and older, the new Adult Hitting Leagues will feature weekly competition, live statistics, and realistic game simulation powered by HitTrax. Individual participants will form teams and compete against other teams in head-to-head matchups…played in their favorite MLB Stadium. 

Introducing the Legends Softball Club

One of the newest additions to the offseason schedule is the Legends Softball Club, created specifically for senior softball players 65+.

The club offers a dedicated opportunity to stay active, continue competing, and enjoy the camaraderie of the game throughout the colder months. Morning sessions, coffee before play, and a structured team season will create a fun and welcoming way for players to remain connected to softball.

School Break Camps and Special Events

The expanded offseason calendar will also include new school break camps and signature events, giving young athletes additional opportunities to train when school is not in session.

Players will be able to participate in skill-building experiences and unique competitions, including home run derby events, in a safe, structured, and supervised environment. These programs are designed to give athletes an enjoyable way to keep developing while also providing peace of mind for parents.

The Red Wings x Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester Hitting Expo Returns

The Red Wings, together with HitTrax and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, will once again give local youth an opportunity to experience the Red Wings Performance Center through the Red Wings x Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester Hitting Expo - Presented by HitTrax.

Participants will receive baseball and softball instruction while gaining hands-on experience with HitTrax, player performance analytics, and other professional-grade development tools. The program will also introduce young people to the ways technology, data, biomechanics, sports science, and innovation are shaping the future of baseball…and creating careers throughout the sports industry.

More than simply providing access to a training facility, this long-standing partnership is intended to inspire curiosity, encourage lifelong learning, and introduce young people to the many pathways available both on and off the field through baseball, softball, and sports technology.
